History of the Blue Crab Festival

The Blue Crab Festival is actually one of the county’s longest standing traditions, with the first festival kicking off back in 1975. The original purpose of the festival itself was to promote the crab industry here in Wakulla County. Over the years, the size and turn-out of the festival grew significantly into the huge event it is today. By attending this event for yourself, you’re able to enjoy a wonderful and prized piece of the county’s history (and of course, plenty of incredible seafood).
